Impact of Remote Work on Mental Health
According to FlexJobs’ 2023 Work Insights Survey, 96% of workers believe that remote or hybrid work arrangements are beneficial for their mental health. Specifically, 49% of respondents preferred a hybrid model, while 47% favored fully remote work. Only 4% felt that working in an office full-time was best for their mental health. The top reported benefit of remote work was decreased stress levels.
Commuting and Stress Levels
The survey found that 87% of workers reported that commuting affects their stress levels, with 58% indicating it has a significant impact. Specifically, 29% stated that commuting has an enormous impact on their stress, while another 29% said it impacts them a lot.
Looking ahead, 95% of workers expressed a desire for some form of remote or hybrid work. Among them, 54% prefer to work from home full-time, while 41% find a hybrid model ideal. Only 5% indicated a preference for full-time office work.
